Design a stylish CD icon in Photoshop
Posted on June 5th, 2010
For this Photoshop icon tutorial we’re going to create a stylish CD icon using only Photoshop. This Photoshop icon tutorial is quite short and should be very easy to follow making it ideal for beginners. By the end of the tutorial we will have created this.

Step 1
Let’s start out by creating a new file. I used a 200×200 pixels canvas set at 72dpi, and I filled my background with #C1C7CD color shade. In a new layer draw a white circle with #F8F9FB color shade and 73 x 73 px dimensions.

Step 2
Under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add an Inner Glow, Gradient Overlay and Stroke blending options to the white circle layer.

That should result in this.

Step 3
In a new layer draw a smaller white circle with 28 x 28 px dimensions. Then under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add a Stroke blending option.

Which will result in this.

Step 4
In a new layer draw a small gray circle with #C1C7CD color shade and 14 x 14 px dimensions. Match the color shade of this small circle with your background.

Step 5
Under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add a Gradient Overlay and Stroke blending option to the small gray layer.

End result
And that’s all there is. With a little arranging you should end up with the following. That’s how you create a CD icon in Photoshop.
